Atlanta Neighborhood Safety Update

Week of October 9, 2022

Last week saw approximately the same the number of crimes - 445 - reported by the Atlanta Police Department as the week before (457).

The number continue to be below the peaks of 519 and 496 per week we saw in September.

Most of the crimes were committed in:

• Castleberry Hill/Downtown

• Old Fourth Ward, Sweet Auburn

• Midtown

No crimes were reported in 12 neighborhoods:

• Adams Park, Southwest
• Arden/Habersham
• Ben Hill Acres, Briar Glen
• Brookhaven
• Cascade Avenue/Road
• Cascade Heights, East Ardley Road
• Center Hill, Harvel Homes Community
• Cross Creek
• Kingswood, Mt. Paran/Northside
• Knight Park/Howell Station
• Midwest Cascade, Regency Trace
• Peachtree Heights East, Peachtree Hills

Overall Atlanta stats

Larceny from vehicles continues to top the list of crime categories. There was a total of 178 instances reported in the city last week (same as the week before). The close second category is non-vehicle larceny - with 92 reported during the week.

Larceny is followed by auto theft. 83 incidents involving theft or attempted theft of vehicle were recorded in Atlanta last week (up from 66).

Among violent crimes, there were 36 reports of aggravated assault, 38 - of burglary, 16 robberies, and 2 homicides (down from 5).
