Now that June is behind us, it’s time to review safety trends in Atlanta neighborhoods in the first half of 2022. Which neighborhoods are the safest based on the last 6 months? What are the trends? And how does safety and crime in your neighborhood compare to the rest of Atlanta?

Safest Neighborhoods

First off, here are the top 10 neighborhoods that had the best safety record in Atlanta in 2022 so far based on the total number of reported crimes.

Several North Atlanta neighborhoods, including Margaret Mitchell, Brookhaven, and Brookwood Hills, continue to stay at the top of the list, with only one (1) crime in Margaret Mitchell in the first 6 months of 2022 – a larceny from vehicle reported back in January.

Risk of a resident becoming a victim of a crime in these neighborhoods over the course of a year is less than 1 in 200 chances.

In these neighborhoods almost all of reported crimes fall into the non-violent category, with no homicides, for example, reported in any of the top 10 safest neighborhoods so far this year.

On the other end of the spectrum, risk of encountering a crime by a resident is at least 10 times higher than in the safest neighborhoods.

The highest frequency of crimes per resident so far this year has been reported in Castleberry Hill / Downtown, where the risk stands at 1 in 14.
