Atlanta Neighborhood Safety Update

Week of November 6, 2022

Last week saw a 17% jump in the total number of crimes - 500 - reported by the Atlanta Police Department compared to the week before (437).

The total is at the level of the weekly peaks of 519 and 496 we saw back in September.

Most of the crimes were committed in:

No crimes were reported in 16 neighborhoods:

• Cascade Avenue/Road
• Cross Creek

• Hunter Hills, Mozley Park
• Kingswood, Mt. Paran/Northside
• Margaret Mitchell, Paces
• Midwest Cascade, Regency Trace
• Peachtree Heights West
• South River Gardens
• Thomasville Heights

Overall Atlanta stats

Larceny from vehicles continues to top the list of crime categories. There was a total of 198 instances reported in the city last week (compared to 153 the week before - a 30% increase). The close second category is non-vehicle larceny - with 114 reported during the week (vs 107 week over week).

Larceny is followed by auto theft. 99 incidents involving theft or attempted theft of vehicle were recorded in Atlanta last week (versus 89 last week).

Among violent crimes, there were 37 reports of aggravated assault, 37 - of burglary (the most significant incease week over week - alomst 50%), 11 robberies, and 4 homicides (up from 2).
